BROADS OUTDOORS FESTIVAL 2013

BE PART OF IT!

The Broads is “Britain’s Magical Waterland” offering visitors an experience unlike any other with its rivers and lakes – the “Broads” – peaceful paths and cycleways, unspoiled villages and market towns that all make up the tapestry of this fantastic area.

The Broads is recognised globally for the wildlife and the distinct and precious character of its environment and so offers a rich mix of attractions and activities both for local residents and visitors of any age and interest.

The third annual Broads Outdoors Festival will run from 4th to 19th May 2013.

3. Why get involved?

The Broads Outdoors Festival gives us a great opportunity to celebrate and further promote this unique and special area before the main tourism season gets fully underway. It will encourage visitors to the area and residents alike to find out more about the wildlife, history and heritage and environment of The Broads as well as a chance to learn new skills, enjoy some of the iconic Broads buildings and landscapes, take to the water in a variety of different craft and much, much more to keep visitors coming back again and again.

Broads Tourism – supporting The Broads Outdoors Festival

“All of us at Broads Tourism are delighted to once again be a partner

in the delivery of the third Broads Outdoors Festival. The aim of the

Festival is to encourage visitors and local people alike to experience

the delights that the Broads has to offer in the historically quiet period

between Easter and the start of the main season.

I would urge all Broads businesses to get involved in the Festival and

to take full advantage of the publicity that it will bring. You can do this

by organising a special event during the Festival, or by advertising in the

dedicated Outdoors Festival booklet. This high quality publication

produced by our media partner, the EDP, will be available to hand out

at our prelaunch publicity event at the Forum in Norwich on 5th & 6th

April, at all local TIC’s, and as an insert in the Eastern Daily Press.

Broads Tourism’s aim is for the Outdoors Festival to grow

year on year; to become a significant event in the Norfolk

and Suffolk calendar; and to be an integral part of our

promotion of the Broads, Britain’s Magical Waterland”.

Barbara Greasley,

Broads Tourism Chairman

4. Ways to get involved – put on your own event and get promoted as part of the programme for free

We are looking to include all sorts of events taking place between 4th – 19th May 2013 providing they fit with the ethos of the Festival. Here is some helpful information for you to consider: -

Is your event….

 can do in The Broads?

 programme of activities)?

e.g. special events for wheelchair users.

If your event fits in with the points mentioned above we want to know

about it! We can only accept events that meet the criteria of the Festival.

If your event does not quite fit with the ethos of the Festival then we will

of course contact you to look at ways in which we can help you re-configure the event or come up with some new event ideas.

Just so you know – if you are planning a Guided Walk as a Festival event, The Broads Authority has indicated that they will do all they can to arrange for paths to be cut back providing they have plenty of notice so please let us know as soon as possible.

If you plan to put on your own event – it doesn’t have to be huge and we can help you promote it. The deadline for inclusion in our marketing materials is 28th February 2013.

5. Advertise with us:

There’s also the opportunity for paid advertising in the

dedicated Broads Outdoors Festival Programme that gets

distributed locally (10,000 copies) as well as inserted into

the Eastern Daily Press on 30th April offering you great

exposure and reach – a perfect way to get involved if you

are unable to run your own event or maybe an advert to

support your event.

For advertising rates please contact

Vicky O’Leary on Vicky.oleary@archant.co.uk or call her

on 07918 941417.

6. How to get the most out of your participation:

As soon as you know the details of your event send to us by email to

outdoorsfestival@broads-authority.gov.uk the final deadline is 28th February 2013.

Save the date for our pre-Festival promotion event at The Forum Norwich on 5th and 6th April.

Would you like to take part in our two-day Broads promotional

event in Norwich City Centre to raise awareness of the Broads

and the Outdoors Festival?

Do you have an exhibit you would like to showcase?

Can you volunteer to help us man our exhibits or perhaps

you want to be involved in another way? Please get in touch.

7. Other partnership opportunities

There is a special opportunity to gain brand association with this high profile event, an event that connects powerfully into the brand and community of Norfolk. Here’s just a handful of ways to get involved but we’d really prefer to bespoke a package to suit your needs.

What we can offer in return:

 Festival marketing and media channels
